The Barber Boot Camp was definitely worth the investment for me. I am a licensed cosmetologist so I have been styling and taking care of hair for about 14 years now but I had been looking learn more in clipper cutting and me not having the time to go back school for another 1000+ hours this was the perfect class for me. He covered pretty much what you really need to know to barbering. I ended up doing the 1 on 1 class with Lou and I brought my models and he set up 1 model for me.
Lu the barber had a great curriculum which I thought gave a good foundation for me to build on, as well as teaching some techniques that helped me tremendously. I see a difference in my blending/ fading already. He helped fine tune me.
Lou was very informative and he explains to you details that you will need to succeed and he will notify what to take notes on. He answers any and all questions during and even after your class is over if needed.
It was a great experience for me and I would recommend the 1 on 1 class if you are one with a lot of specific questions that you need to make sure you understand.

It was a true honor to met such an inspirational & talented barber like Lu! He is so humble and his teaching comes to natural! Definitely recommend for anyone fresh out of cosmetology school or even school!

Barber Boot Camp has help me because when I was in beauty school they didn't teach us how to do clipper cuts. The beauty school's focus was on passing the stateboard. When I started working at the salon called SmartStyle, I was not confident in my haircut skills. While I was working at smart styles, some customers asked for fade haircut and I turned them down because I was so scared of cut their hair. Mr Lu has helped me to understand how to fade haircut compared to the training I got from SmartStyle fading haircut. If any stylists have any problems fading haircuts or cutting men's hair, I would recommend this class to each one of yall. You cannot go wrong the way he teaches it to you. Mr. Lu is also patient with you when you cannot understand. After I finished this class I am more confident in my haircut and skills and thanks to Mr. Lu you have done a fabulous job!

Lu the barber is the best!! I learned so much after taking his class. This class has taught me the basic foundation of clipper cuts. He taught me how to do taper, fades and worked on my blending. He recommended the right tools for me to use. I feel so much more confident after taking his class. I would recommend anyone who is struggling with clipper cuts to take his class!!!

Lu was an incredible teacher! I purchased the 2 day course, and learned so much. Lu is a very hands-on teacher, making it super easy to communicate and understand his barbering system. I took Barber Boot Camp for Cosmetologists Levels 1 & 2 with the amazing Lu the Barber, and it was not only the best investment in continuing education I could have made, but truly a revelation and a joy.
Level 1 was eye opening. Lu fills in the blanks that many cosmetologists have in regards to clipper cutting, tells you what kind of equipment you'll need, and introduces you to his system, which breaks tapers and fades down into a process that, if you truly follow each step, results in crispy cuts that blend like butter on any texture hair.
Level 2 reinforces the information you learn in Level 1, and gives you the opportunity to do a full haircut with one-on-one coaching by Lu from start to finish. I'm glad I took it to the next level because for me personally, this is when I felt the information really sinking in, my hands getting a muscle memory for the technique, and my confidence building. When it comes to hair, there is truly no better learning experience than to get hands on, and Lu is a patient, kind, and encouraging teacher who is right beside you every step of the way.
I would recommend this class for cosmetologists who feel their education has some gaps they'd like to fill, industry professionals interested in men's grooming, or anyone who wants to improve their clipper cutting game. As a union hairstylist for the motion picture industry, I also appreciate that Lu can also put his teaching in context of the trailer. He is able to translate his knowledge to what we need on set as well as in a salon. Lu's planning on offering more 706 specific classes in the future--You bet as soon as I hear, I will be the first to sign up! Thanks so much, Lu and Barber Boot Camp!

I am a 12 yr. Cosmetologist and Salon Studio owner. I specialize in Multiethnic Textured hair. I am a colorist, Kasho shear ambassador and was a Network Educator for Bumble and Bumble for four years. That being said I knew nothing about Barbering. I owned a Peanut trimmer which I would use to clean up the necks and sides of my male clients... that was it. I didn't know how to fade or know how to step by step the proper way to do a clipper cut. I can shear over comb my Ass off but doing a tight clipper cut I knew nothing.
Enter Barber Boot Camp and my first day with Master Barber and owner of the program Lu. I attended the Barber Boot Camp for Cosmetology Level 1 from 10am until 4pm. Many topics covered and two models with barber cut demonstration. Clipper terminology, basic haircuts, fading technique, taper techniques and even maintenance of equipment. If you want to break your fear of using clippers or improve your barbering skills I highly recommend taking Barber Boot Camp. I am looking forward to applying the knowledge I have received and continuing my education with Master Barber Lu in the future.

The hardest part of this class was unlearning all the things I was taught, that misinformation gave me years of anxiety because it never really made sense..but now I feel confident that the missing pieces have been filled in. I signed up fo the 2 day session and honestly I thought it would take a week long class to make me pick up a pair of clippers but there I was day 1 cutting someone's hair..with Lu closely standing by lol. Day 2 I had to do a haircut from beginning to end by myself...the struggle was real! (In my head) Lu even walked away a couple of times..as if I knew what I was doing lol...
This has been the best decision ever! The class is fun and Lu is amazing, he's patient, knowledgeable, he will explain and demonstrate until you get it..not to mention how he will be your biggest cheerleader all the way through...'the process' has given me a new confidence..best investment in me I could make and you should to...THANKS LU

Lu, the instructor, does an incredible job explaining the art and techniques of barbering. He is also very considerate of students with language barriers and takes time to make sure they understand the material while also boosting their confidence. Lu is an incredibly talented barber and an all around genuinely nice person! I went thru parts 1 and 2. Learned some very important tips the barbers I work with were never willing to share. I am a cosmetologist but work in a barbershop, so I probably should have done the bootcamp for barbers. Learned alot, laughed alot and was given some new skills to take me further in my career with confidence. All and all..well worth the $!

For Hairstlyist looking to expand their Barbering skills Barber Boot Camp is for you. I took the two day course as well as a private one on one. Lou is a natural educator and his class was very informative. My favorite class was the one on one class. All hands on and I could focus on what I skills I was lacking in. Great investment and well worth the time spent.

Barber Lu has a systematic approach for fading and tapering. Following it and get practices, you can master the men haircut skills including the bald fade and cut efficiently and effectively. He’s a warm, honest and funny guy. I enjoyed the classes so much!

Barber Boot Camp for Cosmetologists was the best barbering class I’ve ever been to! Lu was so great! He was very professional and fun to learn from! I’m from Mpls, MN and took the 2 day class in Charlotte, NC...so worth it! You learn on live models (no mannequin heads) which makes such a difference. Lu makes sure you got what you needed before your class is done. So good, highly recommend!

I highly recommend this class to licensed cosmetologist/ barbers wanting to learn more in the hair industry. Lu does a really good job keeping it fun, and interesting.
